Bed wetting is a problem that most children have when they have never had dry nights sleep before. This is still quite common between children who are around the ages 6-8. Eventually, they will grow out of it. however, it is important to know that there are also triggers in life that are linked to bed wetting. Some of these include having a small bladder, short time between bed time and drinking liquids, diets, and ultimately genetics. As a result, children of bed wetters may also have problems with bed wetting.
To help prevent this, parents can help their children do the following:
- Limit drinking liquids 2 hours before sleeping.
- Put a bedside potty in case he or she wants to go immediately.
- Provide a night light or turn on the bathroom light so the child can get to the bathroom in the dark.
- Never punish the child for wetting his or her bed.
- Help the child fix the problem on their own.
