If you are having some problems with your little tots and other types of punishments are not exactly working out, why not try giving them “time out” as a mode of punishment.
Time out is the act of taking your child away from something that he or she is doing for a certain amount of time. Like say, he or she is playing or coloring. It really does not matter when he or she is given time out, just as long as it is in a location where the child cannot continue to play with himself or with games, read books, or watch TV.
The idea is not to use the bedroom as the time out area because the bedroom is where everything goes down, and it is NEVER boring or dull in there. So find a bare wall or corner that does not have stuff to play with during time out. Some parents use a chair so when the child does something undesirable, he or she is told by the parent to go sit in time out.
